An exemplary investment by Merinos in Germany: “Medipa Eco Campus” is being built in Alfter
Alfter, July 8, 2025 – With a symbolic contract signing, the Merinos Group – one of the leading carpet manufacturers from Turkey – has officially launched its sustainable and technology-oriented expansion in Germany. In addition to the existing activities in Troisdorf, the new “Medipa Eco Campus” is being built on a 75,000 m² site in Alfter, North Rhine-Westphalia. The total investment volume amounts to 50 million euros.
A sustainable and employee-oriented “Green Campus” with DGNB Gold and QNG Plus certification
The new campus aims for the prestigious DGNB Gold and QNG Plus sustainability certificates – a standard achieved by only about 10% of logistics properties in North Rhine-Westphalia.
– 40,000 m² fully automated logistics warehouse
– 5,000 m² of office, showroom, and R&D space
– Two-story parking deck with 100 spaces and truck waiting zones
– 2 MW photovoltaic system with battery storage
– Extensive roof and façade greenery
– Regenerative heating system
– Over 5,000 m² of landscaped green areas
– Fully automated fire protection technology
– Ergonomically designed workstations, recreation, and sports areas for employees
Construction scheduled to begin in March 2026
Construction is planned to start in March 2026. After an estimated 20-month construction period, the Medipa Eco Campus is expected to go into operation at the end of 2027.
New logistics center for Europe
Once operational, the site will:
– create around 250 jobs
– enable a daily shipping capacity of 100,000 carpets
– allow Europe-wide deliveries within 24 hours.
Recognition by the City of Alfter
The symbolic contract signing took place on July 8, 2025, at the Alfter Town Hall. Attendees included:

Mayor Dr. Rolf Schumacher thanked the Merinos Group on behalf of the city and emphasized: “This is the largest single investment by a private company in the history of Alfter. We are proud that such a forward-looking project is being realized in our community.”
As a token of appreciation, the City of Alfter presented a symbolic spade inscribed with “Medipa + Alfter” during the ceremony.
